Bridgette Lawrence

Promotional Products Coordinator

If you’ve ever received a piece of branded merchandise from L&R, there’s a good chance Bridgette had a hand in it. As our Promotional Products Coordinator, she combines creativity, design expertise, and more than ten years of industry experience to help clients identify and design merchandise that people genuinely want to keep and use. We caught up with Bridgette to talk about her role, her favorite projects, and why a great pen might just be the perfect promotional item.

Tell us a little about your background and what you do at L&R.

I joined L&R in 2023, but I’ve been working in the promotional products industry for more than ten years. My background includes project management, customer service, product sourcing, and graphic design, all of which helps me to help clients turn ideas into merch that’s both useful and memorable. I love helping clients bring a vision to life and seeing the finished product make an impact for their brand.

What kinds of projects do you enjoy most?

The kind that require creativity and problem-solving. Things like building cohesive merchandise collections for events, employee appreciation programs, and company stores—these are especially rewarding because they allow us to create a consistent brand experience across multiple products.

What’s something people often misunderstand about promotional products?

Promotional products are not simply giveaways. They’re really an extension of a company’s brand. If you produce a piece that has both quality and functionality, along with thoughtful branding—something a person genuinely uses and enjoys—it creates a lasting connection and keeps the brand top of mind long after an event or campaign is over.

What are some design trends you love—or wish would disappear?

I love the trend toward clean, simple branding with an emphasis on quality merchandise. Subtle logos, modern color palettes, and thoughtful design tend to have a longer-lasting impact. If I had to pick a trend to retire, it would probably be overcrowding designs with too much information. Sometimes less really is more.

What’s your favorite thing about working with the L&R team?

Without question, it’s the people. I know a lot of companies describe themselves as a family, but at L&R that genuinely feels true. We work hard, support each other, celebrate successes together, and somehow manage to have a lot of fun along the way. The teamwork here makes even the busiest days enjoyable.

What accomplishment are you most proud of since joining the company?

I’m proud of the relationships I’ve built with both clients and team members since joining L&R. It’s rewarding to know that clients feel confident coming back to us project after project.

What makes L&R different when it comes to helping clients with promotional products?

I think it’s the level of care and partnership we bring to every project. We don’t just take orders—we take the time to understand our clients’ goals and recommend solutions that make sense for their brand, budget, and audience. Combined with our creativity, industry experience, and exceptional customer service, it allows us to deliver a truly personalized experience.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

Outside of work, I enjoy creative hobbies like painting and photography. I also love exploring thrift stores—you never know what unique treasure you’ll find. Most of all, I enjoy spending time with my husband, whether we’re trying something new around town or just relaxing at home and catching up on our favorite shows.

So is there a particular show you’ve been enjoying recently?

My husband and I started rewatching the TV show Lost, which has been a lot of fun to revisit. We also have a few comfort shows that are always in rotation, including The Office, Bob’s Burgers, Parks and Recreation, and Schitt’s Creek.

What app takes up most of your time?

Definitely TikTok. It’s a great source of inspiration for creative ideas, design trends, recipes, and photography tips. Of course, it also has a way of turning a quick five-minute scroll into much longer than five minutes!

What product or brand do you particularly love?

As someone who works in promotional products, I appreciate brands that combine great design with everyday functionality. One brand I really love is YETI. Their products are durable, thoughtfully designed, and genuinely useful, which is exactly what makes branded merchandise memorable. It’s a great example of a product people use for years rather than something that ends up forgotten in a drawer.

Alright, time for the speed round. What was your dream job when you were 10?

Veterinarian.

First concert?

Britney Spears, when I was 7.

What completely ordinary thing are you surprisingly passionate about?
Color palettes and design details. Most people don’t think twice about things like packaging, signage, or branding, but I notice them everywhere. Whether I’m shopping, dining out, or scrolling online, I’m always paying attention to how design influences the experience.

What’s your most irrational pet peeve?

Sounds repeating over and over, like an alarm or a dog that won’t stop barking.

What fictional character are you most like?

Probably Jessica Day from New Girl. It’s the bangs.

What’s the most useless talent you possess?

I am very good at remembering song lyrics, movie quotes, where I recognize an actor from (even if it’s a small random roll), things like that. My husband is always fascinated about it because he has a terrible memory.

Favorite promotional item of all time?

Funny enough, pens. I love a good quality pen that is also cute. Can never have too many of those around the office.

The Return of the Real

To paraphrase (or rather completely misquote) Mark Twain, “The reports of the death of human creativity are greatly exaggerated.” Sure, for the last few years, all we’ve heard about is AI. AI. AI. Companies have been hurtling toward more automation. All digital.  But clear away the AI-hype, and you start to see a new pattern emerging. One that’s both surprising and yet totally predictable. Companies and culture are not abandoning technology altogether (how could we?), but there is a noticeable new attraction and…

The Noise Test: Is Your Creative Actually Doing Anything?

Most creative work isn’t bad. It’s just unnecessary. Not essential. Noise.  The video looks great. The site redesign is clean. The merch table is loaded. But what would happen if you quietly removed it all tomorrow? Would anything actually change? Would getting rid of it actually clear space for more meaningful messaging?  In busy organizations, creative often becomes purposeless activity. We produce because we can. We launch because it’s time. We redesign because the current materials feel stale. But production isn’t progress. And volume isn’t value.  The…

Why Print Still Matters (Especially in Healthcare and Education)

Walk through a hospital or a school (or really any corporate environment), and you’ll see it everywhere—on walls, at desks, in hallways.  Despite the rise of digital tools and platforms, some of the most important information is still communicated on paper. Not because organizations are behind the times, but because in high-stakes environments, clarity and permanence still matter.  Print Doesn’t Compete…
